Are you ready to take your Pinterest game to the next level?
That’s exactly what you can do at artPOP, a DIY art shop located on 15th and Market streets in La Crosse. The brainchild of Tracy Endrizzi and Nicole Uecker, artPOP offers unique projects with a modern spin. The results are Pin-worthy.
Artists themselves, Endrizzi and Uecker have found a passion for helping others tap into their creativity. Both women have participated in art school trainings and retreats where they’ve focused on new techniques, products and experiences. Endrizzi has gravitated toward mixed media, jewelry-making and glass mosaics, while Uecker has come to specialize in indoor gardening, painting and printing.
With just over a year of business ownership under their belts, Endrizzi and Uecker have identified ways to improve the artPOP experience. “As we speak, it is our plan to expand our physical space and co-locate with our neighbor, Twinkle and Twine. By co-locating, we offer our customers the opportunity to come to Market, have a cup of coffee, work at the artBAR and shop for a new favorite find,” shared Endrizzi. They also hope to spend more time creating and selling original art and donating more of their wares to local nonprofits.
Also on the docket is further utilization of their large outdoor space, which they lovingly refer to as The Sideshow. “This space allows us to really enjoy La Crosse during nice weather while getting extra messy with art,” said Endrizzi. Located in a tight-knit, mostly residential neighborhood, artPOP has been able to expand outside its walls, not only into The Sideshow, but into the community. “We offer a unique place for neighbors to feel welcome and build relationships through art,” said Endrizzi.
Presenting unique offerings is what artPOP does best. At the studio you can create jewelry out of leather, metal or resin; try your hand at art journaling or mixed media assemblage; design terrariums and planters for your home; or, if you’re short on time, complete an express project in under an hour.
The holiday project offerings are unique, as well. Customers can create personalized ornaments using stained glass, wood burning or painting, or even Scrabble tiles. “I think our favorite last year was polymer clay ornaments with a personal photo transferred onto the clay,” shared Endrizzi. Need other gift ideas? They’ve also got Advent candles, sugar-scrub blocks, bath bombs and jewelry available for purchase.
artPOP is also a great spot for team-building. “We enjoy fusing team-building practices with art when working with small groups,” said Endrizzi. “We offer a variety of classes including team-building for businesses and small parties both on- and off-site.” If you’re solo, there are options, as well. The artBAR is an open space for creating on your own time. Endrizzi explained, “A customer can come in anytime during our open hours to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea and leisurely create a ready-to-go project featured on the artBAR. These projects can take anywhere from 30 minutes to two hours.” Rotated periodically, the current artBAR offerings are listed online. Uecker and Endrizzi stay on top of trends and make new Pinterest-ready projects available on the artBAR because they care about local artists—experienced and otherwise. “We hope to represent the love of art in our community.”
