“A.X.L.” takes the story of a boy and his dog to the next level—artificial intelligence. A.X.L. is the latest in robotic technology to protect soldiers. Standing for Attack, Exploration and Logistics, A.X.L. is an advanced top-secret weapon with the shape and personality of a dog. But the experimentation goes wrong, and Miles discovers this robotic dog while riding in the desert. The two bond as pets do with their owners, giving Miles the boost his confidence needs. When A.X.L.’s creators discover he’s paired with someone, they literally send in the military. Miles joins forces with clever and ingenious Sara and ends up on an adventure suitable for the whole family. “A.X.L.” will be available on DVD Jan. 1, 2019.

Humans 3.0 —TV-14
A suburban family invests in the latest new tech gadget: a human-like robot. Designed to make life easier for humans, these “synths” soon begin to take over roles that change what they are to who they are. Some synths have emotions and independent thoughts while others have breakdowns and become violent. This British television drama explores ideas of artificial intelligence, consciousness and AI rights. This is the third season of the show, and it’s worth binge-watching the first two seasons to get caught up. “Humans 3.0” will be available on DVD Thursday, Jan. 29.

Bad Times at the El Royale—R
The worlds of seven strangers collide when they all stay at the same hotel—the El Royale, located partly in Nevada and partly in California. These quirky strangers are not who they claim to be, but neither is the hotel. The hotel’s dark past hammers against the guests who are hiding their dark secrets. Part Agatha Christie and part Quentin Tarantino, this crime mystery/ suspense features a stellar cast including Jeff Bridges, Nick Offerman, Cynthia Erivo, Jon Hamm, Dakota Johnson and Chris Hemsworth. “Bad Times at the El Royale” is scheduled to be released on DVD Jan. 1, 2019.
