Patrick Melrose: Season 1—TV-MA
When Patrick Melrose discovers his aristocratic and abusive father has died, he must go on a series of pursuits to work for redemption and recovery. In witnessing that journey, we see the abuse he suffered as a child and how silence fueled self-destructive patterns. Though it’s easy to despise the characters at first, their self-deprecation and desire to be better than the preceding generation prove liberating as they begin to conquer their inner demons. The cast for “Patrick Melrose” includes Benedict Cumberbatch, Blythe Danner and Hugo Weaving. This drama miniseries, with moments of dark humor, is based on a book series by Edward St. Aubyn and will be available on DVD Tuesday, June 18.
